the agents you already use can work from your journal now. Claude, Codex, goose, anything that speaks MCP, reading only what you let it see.

if you are new here: solstone is a personal memory platform. the solstone app takes in what you share with it, and all of it goes into your journal, an open source, local-first memory that your agents can work from. your journal lives on a device you own.

your agents, reaching your journal

open the agents app in your journal and hand an agent a pairing code. from then on it can search and read your journal, read-only (for now), limited to what you chose: your whole journal or the facets you pick. every request it makes is listed in the agents app, and you can disconnect any agent from the same place.

an agent on the same computer connects directly, straight to your journal, on mac and linux. you can reach your journal from anywhere using a tunnel of your own, as long as it only passes the bytes through. some free tunnels decrypt your traffic to move it, and whoever runs one can read what your agent reads, and reuse its key to reach your journal, so we don’t support those tunnels.

you can also use solstone.me, $5 a year for a public address for an agent to reach your journal: eight random characters then .solstone.me. the relay we operate behind it can’t read what passes through: the TLS is terminated in your journal, not by us. what we see is the connection itself: the network addresses, when, and how much passed.

notifications, encrypted

your journal can send notifications to your iphone or android phone now. they’re off until you turn them on, phone by phone, and today the one you’ll get is a test you send yourself; notifications about your journal come next. before one leaves your machine, your journal locks it with a key only your journal and that phone share, so apple, google, and the hop we run for iphone can carry it but never read what it says. that’s how seriously we take privacy.

every mac and linux journal release from 2.0.8 through 2.0.24 has a signed transparency record at trust.solstone.app, same as the first seven. anybody can check one.
